Research Isn't Just for Patients - Breast Cancer Trial Talk

Research Opportunities for Family and Friends

When a loved one is diagnosed with breast cancer, it’s natural for family members, especially daughters and close relatives, to wonder what it might mean for their own health and future risk. Many people are  interested in whether there are  research studies they can join that provide valuable information for themselves and contribute to helping others. There are research opportunities designed specifically for family members who have not had breast cancer, including studies that look at genetics, screening, and cancer prevention. One example is the WISDOM Study at UCSF, which is exploring whether personalized, breast cancer screening based on an individual’s risk can be as safe as or more effective than standard annual screening.
